Local Artist Creates Special Mural at The Pines in Thanks to the Community

April 22, 2022 (Bracebridge, ON) – Local artist Kimberly Rideout Chivers revealed a very special new mural at the Pine Long-Term Care home this week. Kimberly had announced earlier this year that she was looking to donate a mural as a way to pay it forward and thank the community that supported her during a health crisis. Her social media posts asked for suggestions from the community as to where the mural should go, and the Pines Long Term Care Home was the most popular suggestion.

Pines staff worked with Kimberly to select a special space in the Home for the mural but left the design of the mural completely up to the artist.  Kimberly began painting the mural earlier this week, and the space in the Home area was closed off during the process so that no one could see it before it was complete.

“We’re just so humbled that the community voted for us, and thankful that we were chosen,” said Jennifer Ridgely, Pines Administrator. “The mural is located in a centralized location in the Home, so people will be able to enjoy it for years to come.”

Kimberly Rideout Chivers presents the new mural to residents, family, and staff at the Pines Long-Term Care who had gathered for the big reveal.

“This beautiful piece of artwork will help to add to the warmth and home-like atmosphere,” said Ridgely.  “Everyone in attendance was amazed at the stunning piece of work Kimberly created.”
