Border measures announcement now on the schedule – Travelweek

OTTAWA — Federal ministers including Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos are expected to provide an update on border measures today.

The briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.

On Feb. 11, Minister Duclos hinted that an announcement about updated border measures would be coming this week.

The heads-up came the day after a Roundtable briefing at Pearson Airport, where two Hamilton, ON-based doctors, both infection control specialists, outlined the case for the elimination of pre-departure and on-arrival PCR tests for fully vaccinated travellers.

As reported yesterday, a CTV News post indicates that the pre-arrival PCR testing requirement could be eliminated by the end of this month, in favour of a negative antigen test result, according to senior government sources.

More updates will be posted on Travelweek.ca as they become available.
