TORONTO — Attendees at the Embassy of Sweden’s recent industry event were abuzz, happy that the days of multiple connections when travelling from Stockholm to Toronto are over thanks to SAS’s new daily service.
The Swedish embassy helped spread the news at a Swedish National Day industry luncheon on June 6, at the Chelsea Hotel Toronto.
“I think people really appreciate direct flights right now, with all the challenges at airports around the world. With this new direct route from Toronto to Stockholm, it’s easy for the business community to get to Sweden quickly and easily. I also think Canadian tourists will enjoy discovering all that Sweden has to offer,” said Marie Devlin, Trade and Business Officer, Embassy of Sweden.
The SAS flights will run four times per week from Toronto to Stockholm, and three times a week from Toronto to Copenhagen, using the Airbus 321 long range aircraft, as reported last week.

The goal is to make the service year-round if the route develops as expected.
The inaugural flight took place June 2 from Copenhagen. Toronto Maple Leafs legend and former captain (and Sweden native) Mats Sundin was onboard.
Thanks to SAS’s partnership with Air Canada, and its membership in the Star Alliance, travellers can connect from Toronto to the U.S. and other points in Canada.
The new service coincides with Sweden’s efforts to become more established in the Canadian market. The country believes there’s potential to increase business here, and that the first step is becoming more well-known through an increased presence with travel agents and the general public. While corporate travel is taking its time to recover post-pandemic, leisure travel is on the rise.
