Taiwan drops quarantine requirement for all travellers – Travelweek

NEW YORK — Taiwan has removed its mandatory quarantine for all travellers, effective today, Oct. 13.

In its place, travellers will instead undergo a seven-day period of self-initiated prevention after arrival. During this period, travellers are instructed to avoid coming into contact with those who are immunocompromised and should stay home if they are feeling symptomatic. Travellers are required to have a negative at-home rapid COVID-19 test result as a precaution.

“We are excited to hear that the borders are officially reopening to travellers worldwide. Taiwan is full of tourism resources, featuring various unique ecologies, cultures, foods and festivities. We welcome travellers to visit and experience the beauty of Taiwan,” said Director Claire Wen of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in New York.

In the coming months, Taiwan will be hosting a wide range of events including the 2022 Taiwan Hot Spring & Fine-Cuisine Carnival, which takes place now until June 30, 2023; the Sun Moon Lake Music & Fireworks Festival with ‘Come! Bike Day’ from Oct. 17, 2022 to Nov. 19, 2022; the 2022 Chiayi City International Band Festival from Dec. 16, 2022 to Jan. 1, 2023, and the Taiwan Lantern Festival 2023 in Taipei City from Feb. 5-19, 2023.

In addition to its many attractions and events, Taiwan is the perfect destination for foodies. In the 2022 MICHELIN Guide Taipei, Taichung, Tainan & Kaohsiung, Taiwan impresses with 38 MICHELIN starred restaurants. The full guide includes 170 eateries in Taipei, 68 in Taichung, 44 and Tainan and 39 in Kaohsiung, giving visitors no shortage of delicious food to enjoy.
